Book Collage
I loved the idea of making a collage to help me get a visual of my book (I’m artsy-fartsy to begin with so this stuff makes my heart happy.) And not just what the character’s looked like but, also, what was happening, the tone of the book, the atmosphere, and the feelings.
It kind of brought out some subconscious themes, too. Like how I have so much happening with Katie and Logan while Tracy (on her horrible blind date) is off alone and bored in the corner. Even the red paper I used for Katie and Logan’s section is active and violent while Tracy is safe with a softer pink background. It really helped break through blocks and kept me motivated. I could glance at it and instantly I was back into the story.
My favorite parts have nothing to do with anything, really, but I liked the little cupids. The bored one mimicking Tracy, the one with an arrow in his back (cuz Katie hated Valentine’s Day) and there’s a tiny one by the SUV that’s pointing his bow at Katie, which to me felt menacing.
